WHO WE ARE
Arvadans for Progressive Action is an expanding group of local activists committed to fundamental principles of the progressive movement. APA was founded in November 2016. We organize and work to advance economic fairness, public education, the environment, universal health care, human rights, political action, and foreign policy that promotes peace for the residents of our community, our state, and our nation.
Arvadans for Progressive Action is not a doctrinaire organization. We do not all need to agree on every issue in order to make progress. We strive to take effective action on principles where we do agree – and to table arguments over differences as a luxury for some less dangerous future time.
WHAT WE DO
Arvadans for Progressive Action has established action groups on each of these issues: Economy · Education · Environment · Health Care · Human Rights · Political Action · Anti-War. You can review our stands on these issues in the ISSUES tab. You can join or comment using the CONTACT tab. You can follow our progress in the ACTIONS tab.
WHY WE DO IT
A primary duty of government, as defined in the U.S. Constitution, is to promote the General Welfare. General Welfare includes clean water, clear air, safe food, safe medicines, safe products, free public education, pay equity, universal health care, and a host of other conditions that counterbalance the private and powerful influences of a super-wealthy minority that can overrun the needs of the majority if left unchecked.
As progressives, we focus on using government power to make large institutions play by a set of fair and equitable rules. A progressive is one who promotes the general welfare, economic fairness, and policies that promote peace and protect vulnerable communities.
