RECAP: APA February Meeting

On Saturday, February 7th, 2026, the Arvadans for Progressive Action (APA) held their Monthly Meeting:

Hosted by our APA Education Action Team: Funding Schools During a Budget Crisis

Thank you to those who showed up at our monthly meeting to learn more about the funding crisis our Colorado public schools are facing! Missed the meeting? Check out our meeting recording here and learn more about the Get It Done and Cut the Ropes campaigns to support funding for Colorado students and schools.

We had brief reports from some of our APA Action Teams: Affordable Housing, Anti-War, Climate, Communications, Education, Health Care, Immigration, Political, Rally-Protest, and Social Connections

Colorado’s public schools are facing a serious funding crisis. Declining enrollment, state budget shortfalls, and TABOR restrictions have contributed to significant deficits — including a nearly $49 million gap in Jeffco Public Schools alone. Finding sustainable solutions to fund our schools is critical to supporting students, teachers, and our communities.

We heard from two expert speakers about grassroots efforts to address chronic school underfunding:

Our Speakers Were:

Lisa Weil from Great Education Colorado. She spoke about the “Get it Done” campaign. See the presentation and another one about Graduated Income Tax.

Lisa Garry from Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA). She spoke about the “Cut the Ropes” campaign. See the presentation.

The presentations were followed by a Q&A and opportunities to get involved.
