Former State Senator Jeanne Nicholson, Healthcare for All Colorado Board member, explained how COVID 19 affects our fight for universal health care. She served in the Colorado Senate from 2011 to 2015. Prior to serving in the Senate, she was a public health nurse, school nurse, and a home health nurse in Gilpin County, a rural community.

Diane Dunn talked about how to apply for healthcare through Medicaid, Medicare, Healthcare Exchanges, and private insurance. Diane is a Health IT Consultant with 30+ years of experience with Medicaid, primarily in Colorado. She also spent several years working with Connect for Health Colorado on the ACA Insurance Marketplace. Her expertise is in the implementation of policy and project management, especially with health information technology systems. She has served on the Board for the Colorado Foundation for Universal Health Care since 2016.

The APA Healthcare Action team met with Representative Ed Perlmutter and 2 members of his staff virtually at 3:15 pm on Thursday, September 10. We thanked Ed for cosponsoring Bernie’s Improved Medicare for All Act of 2019 – HR 1384. Representative Diane DeGette and Rep Joe Neguse are also co-sponsors.
We urged Representative Ed Perlmutter to cosponsor the Health Care Emergency Guarantee Act, H. R. 6906 due To A) Covering EVERYONE in the emergency B) Much Cheaper than subsidizing COBRA, and C) Best Bet to HELP the ECONOMY and preserve jobs compared with the Worker Health Coverage Protection Act HR 6514. We had also emailed him the Comparison sheet – see attached. VICTORY! He agreed to co-sponsor the bill!
