Immigrant Partnership Team (IPT)

We believe in the inherent dignity and human rights of every person, regardless of immigration status. We believe our immigrant neighbors contribute great value to our country and deserve to be respected for their contributions.

Our mission is to:

  1. Provide a clear message to the immigrant community that we are standing with you. You are not alone.
  2. Provide factual information about immigrants to counteract media myths.
  3. Pressure elected officials to develop more humane approaches to immigration policy.

The kind of work IPT does:

  • Wear Protect Immigrant buttons proudly; hand out bi-lingual Know Your Rights (KYR) cards as we go through our daily lives to those who are now at risk, often while they are doing honorable work to provide for their families.
  • Participate in Court Watch at the Denver Immigration Courthouse, standing in support of our neighbors who are showing up for their mandatory check-in appointments, and handing out critical resource information to them.
  • Distribute Rights and Responsibilities flyers and KYR cards to business owners/managers to guide them on preparing for a possible raid and what to do if ICE comes to their business.
  • Give Public Comment at City Council meetings to encourage them to demonstrate support for our Arvada immigrant neighbors.
  • Offer practical support to our neighbors who are now at risk and fearful of doing activities that once were routine. An example is driving someone to their class when they no longer feel safe using public transportation.
  • Reach out to the School Board, Chamber of Commerce, County Commissioners, Sheriff, our State and Federal Representatives and Senators, to let them know we expect them to show support and/or provide legislation that protects immigrant rights.
  • Coordinate with other local IPTs and faith groups to give more power to our various initiatives.
