Candidate for Jeffco School Board, District 4

My name is Joel Newton and I’m running for the Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education for District 4. Our family has called Jeffco home for 18 years and eleven of those years have been in Edgewater. When we moved to Edgewater, we enrolled our daughters in our neighborhood school, Lumberg Elementary. Our oldest just graduated from Jefferson Jr./Sr. High School last May. 

For the last ten years, I’ve been supporting Title I schools in the Edgewater area through my work with our nonprofit, Edgewater Collective. I’ve learned about the hurdles that face students, families, educators, and staff in our schools. I am running for the Board of Education to ensure that the voices of Title I school communities are amplified. Every Jeffco student deserves a school where they are safe, inspired to learn, and prepared for college or a career.
