Candidate for Jeffco School Board, District 3

My name is Michelle Applegate and I am excited to be running for the District 3 seat on the JeffCo School Board. I’m a mom, a public school graduate, an engineer, a PTA President, and a lifelong supporter of our Jeffco schools. 

Public education is crucially important to our community. It is something my family and I value deeply. I am running for JeffCo School Board because our schools are the cornerstones of our communities. Every child deserves an education that ignites their curiosity, responds to their different learning styles, and prepares them for whatever path they pursue. With three children currently in JeffCo Schools, and the youngest just starting preschool, I have a real interest in ensuring that all of our unique learners receive a high-quality education that meets their individual needs and that students, educators, staff, and administrators have the tools they need to succeed.

My professional training as an engineer, and work in policy and regulation, has given me valuable experience collaborating with diverse communities, building consensus, and driving impactful change. My service over the past decade in both schools as PTA President and on policy governance boards has uniquely prepared me to serve JeffCo Schools for today, while planning for the future. Together we can empower our community, lift each other up, and create a safe and welcoming space for all of our students, and the teachers, staff and administrators who work every day in our schools. I am excited to start this journey!
