RECAP: Know Your Rights

On April 4th Arvadans for Progressive Action had our monthly meeting. This meeting was hosted by our APA Immigrant Partnership Team with the topic of Know Your Rights: Citizenship and Immigration.

New members introduced themselves and participants spoke about what gives them hope and what keeps them up at night.

Then, we had introductions/updates from local elected officials and candidates.

Followed by brief reports from our present APA Action Team leads: Anti-War, Climate, Health Care, Immigration, Political, Rally-Protest, and Social Connections.

Our speaker: Michael Dougherty, District Attorney for Boulder County

Dougherty spoke on how Colorado is working to protect our neighbors and immigrant families across the state. Regardless of your immigration status, all U.S. Constitutional rights are under attack. He presented information on the role of ICE, legal protections for immigrants in Colorado, how to protest safely, the authority of state/local law enforcement, and how to report misconduct.

Note: APA has not endorsed any candidate in the state AG race nor is this a campaign event.

The presentation was followed by a Q&A and opportunities to get involved.
